HPV Action Alert for Virginia Residents

Virginia is currently the only state requiring that all children be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine, and Virginia legislators have introduced a bill to repeal the HPV vaccine requirement—HB1112.

The bill would amend a section of the Virginia Code that deals with immunization of children before they can be admitted to schools, day care homes, developmental centers, etc. The Code currently calls for three doses of HPV vaccine for girls, with an opt-out provision by parents or guardians who object to the vaccine. The bill would strike the HPV vaccine requirement altogether, so the opt-out provision would be unnecessary.

Please contact your legislators and support the repeal of the HPV vaccine requirement.
