Tell New Hampshire Legislators to Repeal Water Fluoridation

Even though the Department of Health and Human Services and the Environmental Protection Agency are reversing their position on the safety of water fluoridation, and new scientific studies show that not only do high levels of fluoride harm the surface of your teeth, fluoride also increases the accumulation of lead in bone, teeth, and other calcium-rich tissues, transporting heavy metals into areas of your body they normally would not be able to go—like your brain. High intake of fluoride can increase the risk of brittle bones, fractures, and crippling bone abnormalities.

HB1529 would amend current law to say, “No fluoride, nor any chemical containing fluoride, shall be introduced into the public water supply,” as well as other specific provisions against the the use of herbicides within ten miles upgradient (that is, uphill) from a water intake of a domestic water supply.

I was overjoyed to learn that HB1529 would repeal the mandatory fluoridation of water and help keep our water supplies safe from herbicides, and I want to express my strongest possible support for this bill.

Even though the Department of Health and Human Services and the Environmental Protection Agency are now reversing their position on the safety of water fluoridation, and new scientific studies show that not only do high levels of fluoride harm the surface of your teeth, fluoride also increases the accumulation of lead in bone, teeth, and other calcium-rich tissues, transporting heavy metals into areas of your body they normally would not be able to go -- like your brain. High intake of fluoride can increase the risk of brittle bones, fractures, and crippling bone abnormalities.

Likewise, herbicides are by definition toxic chemicals, and using them in such a way that they could leech into the water supply is dangerous in the extreme.
I believe that consumers should at minimum have the ability, in consultation with their physicians, to choose whether they want their families exposed to fluoride. There are plenty of other sources of fluoride, if consumers wish: in toothpaste, mouthwash, prescription fluoride supplements, and fluoride applied by dental professionals.

We no longer want to be exposed against our will to what scientists say are potentially harmful chemicals -- both fluoride and herbicides! Please support HB5383!
