Thank You for Supporting the Drive to Label GMOs!
Dear [Decision Maker],
My family and I are concerned about our health, and we greatly appreciate your brands' stated desire to support our health and well-being.
We especially appreciate your parent company's donations to support Prop 37, the California Right to Know 2012 Ballot Initiative, especially when the parent companies of so many food brands are spending huge sums of money to defeat the initiative. I strongly oppose genetic engineering in foods and food ingredients for many reasons -- the most important of which is that we simply don't know the long-term effects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on humans. No serious testing has been done to ensure the food's safety for humans in the long-term; we know that scientists are seeing birth defects, high infant mortality rates, and sterility in hamsters, rats, and livestock fed genetically engineered soy and corn, and some hamster pups even started growing hair on the inside of their mouths. Consumers need to be able to choose whether or not they wish to buy food containing GMOs. To do that, they must know whether their food actually contains GMOs, and your company is working hard to make sure that happens. Accordingly, we and many others in the natural health community pledge to support your brand and buy your products instead of your competitors' foods, as our way of saying "Thank you!" for your leadership in a cause we strongly support -- making sure that all foods containing GMOs are properly labeled.
