Ninety-three percent of American consumers want food labels to say
whether they contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The big food companies
claim the new labels would cost too much, but the facts are in—GMO labeling won’t
cost consumers a dime.
ANH-USA has commissioned two exhaustive studies on the topic.
The studies found that US food companies change their packaging all the time,
and adding a GMO label would happen during a normal package update.
Manufacturer costs are so minimal that it would actually cost more for food
companies to print new price tags than it would for them to label GMOs!
There are bills in Congress to label GMOs. In addition,
twenty-eight states introduced GMO labeling legislation in 2013. Your elected legislators
need to know our findings!
