Tell the NYC Board of Health to Repeal Mandatory Flu Shots for Preschoolers!

The New York City Board of Health has mandated that all children under age 5 who are enrolled in city-licensed preschools or daycare centers receive the annual flu vaccine.

Side effects of 2013/2014 flu shot include runny nose, wheezing, headache, vomiting, muscle aches, and fever in children; more serious side effects include severe allergic reactions and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Additionally, by the New York City Department of Health’s own admission, the vaccine’s ability to prevent the flu in “real world settings” is just 24% to 36%.

With a host of serious potential side effects and low efficacy statistics, shouldn’t the risk/benefit analysis be left to parents, and not the government?
