Many states have laws that allow patients to exempt themselves from vaccinations based on personal, philosophical, or religious beliefs. That way, parents who are wary of government-mandated vaccination schedules can make their own informed decisions about their family’s health.
But the New Jersey legislature is considering a set of bills, A1603, S903, A969/S902, A4576/S2907, A1244, and A5144 that mandate the HPV vaccine for certain school children, restrict or eliminate the religious belief exemption, require annual flu vaccine for public and private school students, require the Commissioner of Health to establish rules to mandate vaccines for health care vendors, and allow minors 14 and older to consent to vaccination without parental consent.respectively.
Write to your legislators and urge them to protect freedom of choice in New Jersey and oppose A1603, S903, A969/S902, and A4576/S2907. Also tell lawmakers to support A4659/S2995 and A600, which would prohibit a government entity or school from requiring flu vaccines for persons 18 and under and provide exemptions to flu vaccine mandates based on allergies.
