Stop the Dietetic Monopoly in New Jersey

The New Jersey legislature is considering a bill, A1582, that would exclude some nutrition professionals from the practice of nutrition in the state. The bill prohibits non-licensed nutrition professionals from practicing to the level of their education and expertise.

For advocates of natural health, this means that consumers will have fewer choices when they are seeking the services of a nutrition or dietetics professional. This is unacceptable.

Too often, particular trade associations, such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), try to exclude other professionals from practicing. In practice this often means that practitioners who don’t ascribe to a narrow set of conventional practices are unable to compete. ANH supports a consumer-driven market in which consumers can choose which credentials and what level of education they prefer.

Write to your senator and representative in the Assembly and urge them to oppose A1582!
