Protect Compounded Medicines

Proposed rules governing compounding pharmacies inject the FDA into the patient-physician relationship while doing little to ensure consumer safety. As currently written, the FDA’s proposals will make it harder for consumers to get many of the compounded medications they rely on.

Compounding allows doctors and pharmacist to create medications that are the exact strength, dosage, and ingredient mix best suited to treat an individual patient. Big pharmaceutical companies stand to greatly benefit, since compounded drugs are often a cheaper, more individualized alternative to patent-protected medications. Tell the FDA: protect consumers, not the profits of Big Pharma!
