SIRUS HAS A PAINFUL INJURY TO HIS JAW
A few days ago, the city shelter sent us an urgent plea, asking us to take Sirus, a young stray cat with an injury to his lower jaw, causing his tongue to hang out and making it difficult for him to eat. Sirus was in extreme pain and needed immediate treatment.
We rushed to our emergency vet, where they began pain management for poor Sirus. Since Sirus was a stray, we don't know exactly what caused his injury, but a 'degloving' injury like his is most commonly seen in cats who have been hit by a car.
Now that he is more comfortable, we are reviewing options to for repairing Sirus' open, exposed chin so that he can live as comfortably as possible. This repair will likely involve reconstructive surgery to his jaw and lower half of his mouth.
Despite his traumatic injury, Sirus leans in for gentle petting on his head and lets out low, gentle purrs. We will ensure that Sirus receives the best possible care to ensure his pain in relieved and his quality of live is restored. But this will be undoubtedly be costly. Won't you please consider making a contribution to help cover Sirus' care and treatment?
The Recovery Road Fund is designed to help animals that come to the shelter needing extra medical care. Whether it's a life-saving surgery or a simple procedure to alleviate pain and discomfort, we count on the generosity of our supporters and The Recovery Road Fund to give these animals a second chance.
