Chef barely survived a painful infection

Chef-01071-3.jpg

When 3-month-old Chef arrived at Animal Haven, we didn't think she'd make it through the night. She had an upper respiratory infection so bad that one of her tiny eyes had ruptured, and on top of that, she was severely hypothermic, shaking, and anemic from a flea infestation. This tiny girl was in horrific shape.

We rushed her to the vet, where we feared we might have to say goodbye. But we knew we had to give her a chance. With some compassionate overnight care, medicine and fluids, Chef began to perk up. Her body temperature warmed and she began breathing regularly.

Chef is now back at Animal Haven, where she's receiving lots of love, frequent feedings and fluids to ensure she stays hydrated. Once she's healthy enough, her right eye will need to be surgically removed, but we're hopeful she'll be able to live a long, happy life in a loving home. Chef isn't quite out of the woods yet, but with your help, we can continue giving Chef the fighting chance she deserves.

Won't you please consider making a gift to the Recovery Road Fund to help Chef?

The Recovery Road Fund is designed to help animals that come to the shelter needing extra medical care. Whether it's a life-saving surgery or a simple procedure to alleviate pain and discomfort, we count on the generosity of our supporters and The Recovery Road Fund to give these animals a second chance.
