Sato Project August .jpg

We have been asked to take twelve dogs from an emergency rescue led by our partner organization The Sato Project.  They are bringing 38 dogs rescued from Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico.  Yes, you read that right.  It’s called Dead Dog Beach and, sadly, it is very real.  Over the years, locals have been dumping unwanted family dogs of any age and breed on the beach.  The area is now a sea of homeless dogs.

Luckily, The Sato Project, who we have been partnering with for several years, is on the ground rescuing, spaying and neutering and transporting the dogs to the US for placement.  However, over the summer months, this process becomes even more challenging with the heat.  Commercial airlines have strict rules about dogs flying when the mercury rises – leaving hundreds of dogs stranded in Puerto Rico.

But this month a miracle happened and The Sato Project was able to secure a private plane to carry the pups north.  Animal Haven will be there to receive many of them on Saturday!

Won’t you please consider making a donation to our rescue effort?  We will need to care for these dogs and find them loving homes.  And the quicker we can do the job, the sooner we can say “yes” to more!

The Recovery Road Fund is designed to help animals that come to the shelter needing extra medical care. Whether it's a life-saving surgery or a simple procedure to alleviate pain and discomfort, we count on the generosity of our supporters and The Recovery Road Fund to give these animals a second chance.
