Would You Want Your Kids Smoking Cigars?

They never stop trying to hook our kids and once again, they’re looking for a sweetheart deal from Congress. The tobacco industry wants Congress to exempt most cigars from basic oversight by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that protects our kids. We need your help to stop them.

The tobacco industry-backed bill would take away FDA’s authority to regulate most cigars, including the cigars that are most popular among youth. This would mean FDA could not require warning labels, require cigars to be put behind the counters away from kids, or tell cigar manufacturers to take out candy-flavors that are appealing to youth smokers.

The cigar industry has been relentless in pursuing support for their sweetheart deal that will block lifesaving public health protections. We need you to contact your two Senators and Representative today.

Cigar smoking is not safe. According to the U.S. Surgeon General and the National Cancer Institute, cigar smoking causes lung cancer and other cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as heart disease. And cigar smoking isn’t limited to just adults: nearly 3,000 kids smoke a cigar for the first time each day and 15 percent of all high school boys are current cigar smokers. That’s why it’s so important that FDA keep its authority to put in place common sense protections to keep everyone – especially our kids – safe.

Please speak up today to say that you want commonsense oversight of cigars to protect public health – and especially our kids.

Please send a letter today!

Thank you for all you do,
