Update: No Vote on Alabama Spay/Neuter Bill

Unfortunately the Alabama Senate adjourned without voting on HB 141, the Spay/Neuter Protection Act. This means that even though the bill successfully passed the Alabama House of Representatives and a Senate committee, it will not become law this year.

Alley Cat Allies will stay actively involved and continue to push for this and other humane policies in Alabama. We’ll keep you updated on how you can continue to support spay/neuter resources in Alabama.

Thank you for standing up for all cats, and for all the outreach to your elected officials!

This alert is ONLY for residents of Alabama.

The Spay/Neuter Protection Act, HB 141, still needs your help to keep Alabama’s spay/neuter clinics open.

Thursday is the last day of the legislative session, and this bill may be put to a vote! Please contact your State Senator today—and tell them to vote YES on HB 141 and how important spay/neuter clinics are for Alabama’s animals.

Please email your Senator and call them directly. You can find your Senator’s phone number using your zip code. Respectfully tell your Senator:

  1. Please vote YES on HB 141.
  2. Nonprofit spay/neuter clinics will not affect veterinary practices’ profits.
  3. Nonprofit clinics save the State of Alabama money because they help reduce the number of animals brought to animal shelters.

We need your help to ensure that these clinics can continue to provide valuable services for Alabama’s animals.
