About Pie in the Sky

Pie Facts

Pie in the Sky | Project Angel HeartDuring the Thanksgiving season, helping neighbors in need is easy as…well, easy as pie! Pie in the Sky, now in its tenth year in Colorado, gives community members a fun, easy way to give back during the holiday season. Hundreds of volunteer pie sellers and teams sell pies to friends, family, and coworkers. The fresh-baked pies are then available for pickup the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Each $30 pie sold allows Project Angel Heart to prepare and deliver more than three medically tailored meals, free of charge, for someone living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, kidney disease, or another life-threatening illness.

Pie Flavors

Pies are baked by Bluepoint Bakery, a wholesale, gourmet bakery located in Denver, and Johnson & Wales University. Four delicious flavors are available:

  • Apple
  • Cherry
  • Pecan
  • Pumpkin

Pie Size, Packaging, & Pickup

Our 9” pies are packaged in sturdy, gift-quality boxes with a label indicating that the pie purchase supports Project Angel Heart. They are baked on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and will stay fresh on your counter (apple, pecan, and cherry) or in your refrigerator (pumpkin) until Thanksgiving Day. When ordering pies, you'll be asked to select a pie pickup location in the Denver metro area, Colorado Springs, or Boulder. Your pies will be available at this location, and ONLY this location, on Tuesday, November 26, at the times indicated on our website and in your reminder email.

Are Pies Tax-Deductible?

The fair market value for each pie is $5, so $25 of your purchase may be tax-deductible (please consult your tax advisor). Other donations to Project Angel Heart are 100 percent tax-deductible. A receipt for tax purposes will be emailed to you after your purchase.
