The Prevention and Public Health Fund, funding that provides critical resources to our state and local health departments to keep our communities healthy and safe from infectious disease, lead poisoning, tobacco-related diseases and much more, continues to be at risk. Unfortunately, the latest continuing resolution introduced in the House would once again cut the fund in order to pay for an extension of other important health programs including community health centers and the National Health Service Corps among others.
Send a message to your members of Congress asking them to support the Prevention and Public Health Fund and oppose any future attempt to repeal or use the fund for unintended purposes.
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from American Public Health Association.
Oppose cuts to the Prevention and Public Health Fund!
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a constituent and public health advocate, I write to urge you to oppose any additional cuts to the Prevention and Public Health Fund. The prevention fund has been repeatedly cut by Congress, and is now slated for a $2.85 billion cut under the most recent continuing resolution introduced in the House to pay for an extension of other expired health programs. Instead of pitting one important program against the other, Congress should find another acceptable way to pay for extending the expired programs including community health centers and the National Health Service Corps.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
