RTP Needs Your Help Again!

Please Contact Transportation Reauthorization Conferees to Urge them to Support RTP!

First, thanks for all your efforts so far this year on the Recreational Trails Program (RTP).  You have made a real difference.  As a result of grassroots support, and the leadership of Senator Amy Klobuchar and others, RTP was restored in the Senate’s version of transportation reauthorization legislation (S. 1813).  The initial House reauthorization bill (H.R. 7) also protected RTP.  But, as always, there is more to do, and ARRA needs your help once again.

As House and Senate leaders seek agreement on legislation that may ultimately become law it is imperative that they hear from you about the importance of RTP.  Current discussions about unrelated programs may weaken RTP provisions.  Please click the Send Message button below to send a letter to all House and Senate conferees urging them to retain dedicated funding for RTP.

As you know, the RTP is arguably the most important government program ever created to benefit motorized recreation, and funds the development and maintenance of thousands of miles of motorized and non-motorized trails.  Please click the Send Message button to weigh in today!

Please Retain Dedicated Funding for RTP!

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a member of Americans for Responsible Recreational Access I write to urge you to support the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). Please do not eliminate dedicated funding for RTP in an effort to reach compromise on Transportation Enhancement funding, or for any other reason. As you know H.R. 7 would have protected RTP and S. 1813 was ultimately amended to provide dedicated funding for RTP. There is nearly universal agreement that this important program should be preserved, so please do not strip dedicated funding in Conference Committee.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
