Thank you for supporting the WNC Run/Walk for Autism. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Autism Society is a non-profit organization providing much-needed support to families affected by autism. They are a voice and resource for the autism community in education, advocacy services and support. They are committed to meaningful participation and self-determination in all aspects of life for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. By donating, you are making a difference to improve the lives of so many individuals and families.
On a personal note, I am a mother of fraternal twin boys age 33. We are grateful for our family and friends that support us and for the ASNC day program.
We learned patience and compassion through this life changing situation. Taking the opportunity to see the beauty around us and appreciating the joy and humor from everyday life. The gift of meeting wonderful, caring, people. We know God is guiding us.
Keeping the boys busy with real life hobbies (or work) they enjoy helps them, and us, live meaningful lives and helps us be a part of our community in need. We make blessing gift bags filled with travel size essentials for the local rescue mission. We string rosaries and send them to Peru, a mission for our church. We volunteer folding pizza boxes at a local pizza shop to serve our community.
We also have a daughter that is a 2nd grade teacher. Our grandaughter is 5 years. She appreciates the smiles from our son Jason and asks about him often, and asks that he's included when we play games, especially bowling.
When you see a person with special needs, please smile at the person, you will make everyone's day, including your own.
The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is Peace.
