Hello Friends,
For the last 25 years, I have worked with all levels of students with special needs. What you may not know, is that my daughter, Kayla, is carrying on that torch, but in a different capacity. Kayla is an RBT (registered Behavioral Technician) with a company in Wilmington called Breakthrough Autism. She is currently working on her master's program to become a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst.
We are both participating in this walk and would love for you to either donate your time to walk with us or donate what you can to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
Each day, roughly 10 North Carolina families have a child diagnosed with a form of autism. Each family affected by autism has different challenges and times of joy.
Proceeds from the Coastal NC Run Walk for Autism will fund local programs of the Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC), which serves the over 95,000 families affected by autism in our state.
Please consider making a gift that can:
- make it possible for an Autism Resource Specialist to calm a distressed parent after their child's diagnosis.
- make it possible for parents to take much-needed breaks to care for themselves or another child.
- make it possible for someone with autism to live and work independently.
Thank you for your support!
