Ten years ago, I set out on one of the greatest adventures of my life. I joined the 2007 Ascent for Alzheimer's team and commited to not only raising $10,000 for the Alzheimer Society of BC, but to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. I chose go one this adventure with two good friends of mine, Ariela & Sandy. Little did I know, I'd meet another fast friend on the team, Lorena Townsend.

Since then, Ariela, Sandy & I have organized a huge garage sale every year and donated the proceeds to a member of that year's Ascent team. For 2017, we wanted to mark the 10th anniversary of our climb by raising $10,000 collectively for the Alzheimer Society of BC and have some fun in the process. We decided we should take a trip together and climb another mountain, albeit a slightly smaller one this time. In July, we're heading to the Canary Islands to climb Mt. Teide. At just over 12,00 ft or 3700 metres, it fits the bill nicely.
