Big Things start in Small Ways
In the fall of 2011, artists Audrey Bakewell and Wendy Mould joined together to make their Art work for the Alzheimer Society of BC. They wanted to support the Society by raising funds and create awareness of the support in the community. It is now 7.5 years later and they are launching their 15th Art Show & Sale – Paints’n Bloom with the help of GardenWorks at Mandeville.
“Alzheimer’s disease is such a cruel thing to happen to any member of your family” Wendy Mould thinks of both her brother-in-law and sister-in-law who were diagnosed in their fifties. “Physically they were there but cognitively they drifted away. It was very hard on everyone.” When Audrey’s mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s there was very little awareness of support programs in the community and that is why we provide information in this regard. “At our shows, some people will quietly pick up the brochure while others will share their stories with us. We are pleased to help in any small way.”
Paints’n Bloom Spring Art Show and Sale is a full 4 Day Event: Workshop Day, April 25 and Show Days April 26-28, 10-4pm. at GardenWorks at Mandeville, 4746 Marine Dr, Burnaby.
Workshop Day starts with a Beginner Watercolour Class, 10am -12 lead by Audrey Bakewell and the afternoon features a Creative Card Class, 1:30-3:30pm lead by Wendy Mould. The cost for each is $35 per person all supplies included. Register Wendy 604-314-2232. Participants will not only produce their own art work but learn tips and techniques for Drawing and Painting. Both Wendy and Audrey are accomplished teachers in their mediums.
The main Art Show runs Thursday to Sunday and features Bright Vivid Colour and Wildlife Action, Wendy Mould, AFCA is an accomplished Wildlife Artist and Audrey Bakewell, AFCA is a Colourist. Both have an amazing repertoire of work to share with you.
