The Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet provides age-appropriate and educational toys for pediatric patients receiving care at The Yale New Haven Children's Hospital at Bridgeport.
We are pleased to share the good news that Bridgeport Hospital is once again accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet! Due to the pandemic, our tradition has been on hold for the past two years. We are so happy to return to partnering with our community to bring our pediatric patients some holiday cheer.
As you may know, the toys donated to the Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet are more than simply fun. Play is an essential part of child development. Any hospital stay can be scary and lonely for a child. Your holiday toy donations are used to provide distraction and comfort to children undergoing care and treatment in our Surgease Ambulatory Care Center, Elizabeth Pfreim Pediatric Emergency Department, and inpatient unit. A toy may seem like just a small gift but it serves a very important purpose and means a difference for a child in our care.
This past year, the Dr. Tom Kennedy Toy Closet supplied more than 10,000 toys to our smallest patients in our hospital Your donations make that possible.
