Welcome to My Personal Page

Three years ago, while traveling through East Africa, I reluctantly made the decision NOT to attempt an ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro. Instead, I would have to be satisfied with the glimpse of the peak that I was able to catch on my flight from Dar Es Salaam to Nairobi. While I had no regrets of this decision, I knew that I would return to Tanzania with the purpose of climbing this mountain. What I wasn’t aware of was how soon I would be called back…

In a serendipitous turn of events, I now have the opportunity to join forces with CARE Canada to not only achieve my personal goal of standing atop ‘Kili’, but also to raise funds to fight global poverty.

Also three years ago, in my travels through northern Kenya, I vividly remember the scenes as our bus approached the Somali border. Through the windows, white and blue refugee tents could be seen spotting the landscape. This area of Kenya is “home” to thousands fleeing drought, starvation and violence. The most populated of these camps is Dadaab, with nearly a half million Somalis living here, it is the largest refugee camp in the world. For years, CARE Canada has focused a large portion of its fundraising efforts and life-saving aid to this part of the world. For me, being able to raise funds to assist the programs at Dadaab is equally as rewarding as climbing Kilimanjaro. For more information on CARE’s work with Dadaab, and how CARE is working to empower women and girls around the world, please visit: http://care.ca/our-work/what-we-do/food-security/dadaab&utm_source=hmbnr&utm_campaign=Dbproject.

Please help me and SPONSOR my fundraiser today. You will receive a tax receipt if you donate $10 or more to my efforts. All funds raised will go towards supporting CARE projects and programs that improve access to clean water and sanitation, education, health care, economic opportunities and more around the world. They have a big impact in areas where the need is greatest.
Thank you,

Beau Chaitan
