2020 Walk In Her Shoes Vancouver
We are putting together a team for CARE Canada's 2020 Walk In Her Shoes.
On March 8th, we will be walking 10,000 steps, on the False Creek Seawall, in solidarity with women and girls from developing countries. Women and girls in developing countries walk this distance (an average of seven kilometers) every day to collect essentials such as water and food for their families, depriving them of the time to go to school or earn money, and placing them in danger.
Will you join us and help break this cycle of poverty?
This year, all funds raised from Walk In Her Shoes will support efforts to fight malnutrition in Malawi through CARE's Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program.
WHY MALAWI?
- Size of Newfoundland - 18.5 million population
- 2.9 million without enough to eat
- 68% of women are illiterate vs 81% of men
- One in four girls aged 15 to 19 have already started childbearing
- 13% of children die before age 5 when their mother has no secondary school education
$73 dollars will support 1 family for 1 year in the program - significantly impacting the lives of current and future generations.
Please join us as a walker or a donor to this amazing cause.
The registration fee for participants is only $25, which comes with a tax receipt and a limited edition CARE toque or gloves.
If you are unable to join us at the walk, you can also support the cause by donating. All donations are matched by Global Affairs Canada and are eligible for a tax receipt.
Thank you for your support!
