Protect your skin. Be safe in the sun and don’t use tanning beds. Overexposure to UV rays, either from the sun’s rays or from tanning beds, is linked to skin cancer.

Steps you can take to protect yourself and your family from UV rays
  • Practise sun safety in all seasons – rain, shine or snow.
  • Enjoy the sun safely when the UV Index is 3 or higher.
    • Cover up. Wear loose-fitting clothes, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
    • Seek shade.
    • Slather on sunscreen. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher (SPF 30 or higher if you will be outside for most of the day or if you work outdoors).
    • Know the UV Index.
  • Take extra care with kids.
  • Don’t use tanning beds.
