What is a Memories for Life page?

A Memories for Life page is a web page you create to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. If you are looking for a way to honour the life and memory of a loved one, creating a Memories for Life page is a beautiful way to do so. The donations you collect will help the Canadian Cancer Society fund groundbreaking research, provide information and support services and programs for people living with cancer in Saskatchewan. Money donated through your page goes directly to the Canadian Cancer Society so you don't need to worry about cash and cheques. Your donors will receive a tax receipt after they have made a donation on our secure online form.

What can visitors do on my page?

When you share the link to your page, visitors can make an online donation to your Memories for Life fundraising page. They can also read your personal message, browse through photos you have added to your page and sign your online guestbook.

Why do you ask for my contact information?

We request your contact information so that we can send you updates about your personal page, for example if someone donates to your page we will send you an e-mail letting you know about this. All of your information is kept completely secure. Visit our privacy policy for more information.

How is my profile information being used?

Your name and e-mail address will be collected so that we can communicate with you about your Memories for Life fundraising campaign. See our privacy policy for additional information on how we may use your information.

I would like to raise money during my wedding/host an event/celebrating an occasion. Is this the right program for me?

We have specific event websites for the occasions above. Please visit our sites:

• Getting married? Weddingsforlife.ca
• Holding an event? Fundraiseforlife.ca
• Celebrating an occasion? Celebrationsforlife.ca

Are children allowed to participate?

We invite everyone in the community to participate. We request that if you are under the age of 18 you get permission from your parents or guardians to participate in the program.

Are tax receipts issued for donations to the program?

Yes, tax receipts are issued in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines for all online donations and for offline donations of $20 or more.

Every charity has to follow the rules set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when issuing tax receipts. We cannot issue receipts when a donor:
• purchases goods/products, such as daffodils, cook books, chocolate bars, or services, such as golf tee times
• buys tickets for lotteries, bingos, draws, or games of chance
• drops a coin in a loose coin collection box/canister
• pays an auction admission fee or purchases items in an auction

How do I know my donations are going to fighting cancer and not to administration?

The Canadian Cancer Society is accountable and transparent with the donations we receive and we take this responsibility seriously. Every year, the Canadian Cancer Society releases audited financials in our annual report, which is available online at cancer.ca. See our chart, where your money goes below, to see what you support. We are proud to say that 95% of your donation is spent right here in Saskatchewan. More on where your money goes.
