Tell ICC: Reject Nicor's Rate Hike

  • On Friday, March 10, Nicor Gas filed for a $208.5 million delivery rate hike.
  • Nicor says this will increase the bills of average customers by about 8 percent.
  • This will impact delivery rates, which take up a third to a half of gas bills. It’s what Nicor charges customers to cover the costs of delivering gas to your home—plus a profit.
  • Nicor's parent, Southern Company, made more than $2 billion in profits in 2016.
  • The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) will rule on the case in about 11 months.

Please send a message to the ICC opposing Nicor’s rate hike.

Reject Nicor's Rate Hike (Docket 17-0124)

Dear Chairman Sheahan,

I just heard that Nicor Gas, my utility, has filed for a $208.5 million rate hike. My bills are already high enough, so I'm asking that you reject this rate-hike proposal.

Nicor's parent company raked in more than $2 billion in profits last year, but a lot of customers struggle to pay their bills. Please, stand up for Illinois gas customers and reject this large rate increase.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
