White House has released a budget blueprint that has drastic cuts for key
energy programs that help keep costs down for utility customers. The Washington
Post reports these programs are targeted for elimination:
assistance for energy efficiency programs.
Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): Assists
low-income families with heating and cooling costs.
Assistance Program: Provides
grants for making low-income homes more efficient.
Energy Program: Provides
funding and technical assistance for efficiency and clean energy.
is just a budget outline. The full budget is expected to be released in May. But it will require Congressional approval, and it’s important to let the White
House and Congress know: These cuts will lead to higher utility bills.
Don't raise my utility bills!
I just heard that the White House budget blueprint calls for killing a bunch of energy programs, including Energy Star, LIHEAP and Weatherization Assistance. This is a terrible idea. These programs help keep my utility bills from going through the roof. As an Illinoisan who works very hard to lower my utility bills, I ask that you not make my life harder by eliminating these reasonable programs.
