To the Illinois General Assembly:
I urge you to pass meaningful reforms to better protect Illinois consumers from bad deals in the electric and gas markets.
consumers over the last year lost a record
million on bad deals at the hands of alternative electric suppliers,
according to a report from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). Over the
last three years, the losses total $551 million.
We are glad the ICC last year strengthened some state regulations, but we need to build off those improvements. I urge the General Assembly to support stronger consumer protections in Illinois' electric and gas markets.
