Dear Lawmaker,

I was deeply disappointed in the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the buffer zone law that sought to ensure safe passage for women into reproductive health clinics.

But the decision left the door open for you to pass new legislation restoring these important protections. I'm writing to urge you to act now.

Our ability to exercise our rights free of intimidation, harassment, and violence is a commitment of the U.S. Constitution. Buffer zones have long served as an important tool for defending the exercise of a range of rights, including access to schools, the ballot box, and constitutionally protected reproductive health care.

The danger to women and doctors is real. Since 1977, there have been eight murders, 17 attempted murders, 42 bombings, 181 incidences of arson, and thousands more criminal actions against abortion clinics--including the 1994 shooting rampage in Brookline that claimed the lives of two clinic workers.

This Supreme Court decision comes at a time of unprecedented assault on access to abortion services across the country, as state legislatures pass laws that are closing clinics and banning services. Please act now to protect access and safe passage for the women of Massachusetts.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
