No more sham laws
Dear Governor Abbott,
I oppose the Department of State Health Services' proposed amendments to 25 Tex. Admin. Code §§ 1.132-1.137 that would require women's health providers to cremate or bury the embryonic or fetal tissue from an abortion or miscarriage. The proposed amendments offer no health or safety benefits, and only serve to further stigmatize and shame women seeking abortion and miscarriage management. Such measures are out of step with the majority of Texans who believe that a woman seeking reproductive health care should be treated with dignity.
