Support the Women's Health Protection Act
Dear [Member of Congress],
When it comes to making one of life's most important decisions, such as whether and when to become a parent, I firmly believe that women are fully capable of making that choice without political interference. That's why I urge you to cosponsor the Women's Health Protection Act, a historic piece of legislation that would prohibit states from imposing harmful restrictions that block access to abortion care. This federal law has never been more crucial. For years, legislative attacks at the state level have made it increasingly difficult--and sometimes outright impossible--for women in many parts of the country to exercise their legal right to an abortion. Such underhanded tactics have included: compelling women to undergo medically unnecessary ultrasounds or make multiple visits to a clinic before obtaining an abortion; requiring abortion providers to adhere to bogus site regulations, like mandating the width of a hallway, which have nothing to do with improving a patient's care or safety; and passing bans on abortion prior to viability, a direct violation of a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. These coercive and blatantly unconstitutional laws seek to deny women the dignity of making their own decisions by placing these personal, private matters in the hands of politicians who presume to know better but are really only concerned with pushing their anti-Roe agenda. The promise of our Constitution is one of equal rights and protections for all. If you believe like me that every woman, regardless of where she lives, has the right to make her own decisions about her health and family, then please support the Women's Health Protection Act.
