How much are participants expected to fundraise?

We challenge each participant to raise $2,000. This amount will fund mental health and addictions care and counselling at Covenant House Vancouver. We provide fundraising tools, coaching and support, and are here to help along the way.

What if I have never fundraised before?

The Sleep Out Team is available to help you every step of the way.

Check out our Participant Toolkit and Social Media Content for copy-and-paste messages, images, and ideas to help kickstart your fundraising. In the weeks leading up to the event, you will also receive emails with tips and information to help you reach your goal.

How are Sleep Out donations used by Covenant House?

All donations made to the Sleep Out: Champions Edition event and its participants directly fund Mental Health and Addictions Programs at Covenant House Vancouver.

How are donations made to Sleep Out?

The best way to make donations is online, but cash, cheques, and direct deposits are also accepted.

Each participant has their own online fundraising page where their supporters to donate. The online system makes collecting donations easy, receipting instantaneous, goal tracking automatic, and minimizes administration costs for Covenant House Vancouver.

Donors can also donate directly to the event if there isn't a participant they wish to donate to.

Cheques should be made payable to Covenant House Vancouver and include a note with the name of the Sleep Out participant.

What do participants do with cash or cheque donations received directly from supporters?

If you receive cash or a cheque donation, please mail the donation to Covenant House Vancouver or contact the Sleep Out Team for assistance in processing the donation.

A receipt will only be issued once funds have been received by Covenant House.

Will donors receive a tax receipt for donations?

Tax receipts for online gifts are automatically emailed to the donor using the email address used when donating. Cash and cheque donations will be receipted and mailed to the donor within 4 weeks of the gift being received by Covenant House Vancouver.
