You may not know this, but I and several of my family members have CMT. For some people with CMT there are few visible symptoms. For others, the symptoms are severe and they may not be able to walk and/ or have breathing problems. It’s a wonky disease that can affect even members of the same family very differently as is the case with my own family.
I am participating in the Cycle 4 CMT event to raise money for the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA). The CMTA is a 501c3 non-profit working with world-class partners to advance treatment-oriented research through STAR (Strategy to Accelerate Research) to try to help find treatments and a cure for CMT.
To people with CMT, STAR research for a cure means regaining feeling in the extremities, walking without tripping, walking longer distances, walking without a wheelchair, being able to write and breathe easier. STAR is synonymous with stopping the progression of CMT and living a life without limitations.
STAR is hope for a future without CMT.
Please help make a difference in the lives of those living with CMT and for our generations to come.
Together, with your support, we can reach our fundraising goal.
