Thanks in advance for taking your time to clicking on my link :)
This year I’m participating to help end the devastating effects of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). By sponsoring me, you are advancing the Charcot-Marie-Tooth’s Association’s (CMTA) mission of supporting the development of new drugs to treat CMT, with the goal of finding a cure for this progressive disease.
Why do I participate and fundraise for the CMTA? Not only do I want to help my daughter's Bestie, but also the many others diagnosed with CMT. CMT is a heritable nerve disease causing the sensory and motor nerves to malfunction. Over time, people with CMT experience muscle atrophy/weakness and loss of sensation in the hands/arms and feet/legs.
Other symptoms of CMT may include loss of balance, fatigue, breathing difficulties, contractures, drop foot and loss of mobility. Everyone is affected differently by these symptoms.
The CMTA’s STAR initiative is the most promising, comprehensive, and accelerated CMT research initiative to date. For people with CMT, STAR means regaining feeling in the extremities, walking without tripping, buttoning shirts, being able to pick up change off a flat surface with ease, and breathing freely. STAR is synonymous with stopping the progression of CMT and living a life free of limitations.
This year, my goal is to raise $500. Will you help me reach my goal, bringing us one step closer to a world without CMT?
