Welcome to my P4P page! I'm riding for a reason!
I have personal experience with Craig Hospital in that I was a patient there for four months. I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in October of 2013 while riding my bicycle. I was descending to Denver from the mountains with a ground of friends. We encountered a rockfall area and I unfortunately hit one of the rocks directly. This forced me face-first into the guard rail where I fractured my skull and I was knocked unconscious. Inside, were three substantial brain bleeds. I was rushed to surgery, stabilized, and my life saved...or was it? There was still a lot more work to be done.
After a month in the neuro-ICU, I was recovered enough and privileged enough to move in to Craig Hospital for full rehabilitation. This is where I arrived battered and beaten, but breathing...and left the same person, albeit rebuilt, that I started that fateful ride as.
I had to retrain all cognitive function, rebuild my memory and even relearn how to walk. Craig Hospital enabled a full recovery and return to the life I had. In March of 2014 I returned to work full-time as an aerospace engineer.
Because Craig Hospital was a key part in my recovery, I want to help make them the key part in future recoveries for others. Being a private not-for-profit, they need assistance like this fundraiser to give them extra capital to finance programs that truly rebuild those affected by traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.
So please consider donating even a few bucks for this more-than-worthy cause. (It's a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit [EIN 23-7352287], tax exempt charity registered and in good standing with the IRS......so it is deductible!)
