I'm riding for a reason! It's going to be a great time for a great cause!!
Shawn Marshall is my son. Early in November, 2016, he was vacationing in Thailand and was involved in a motorbike accident that left him with a brain injury and spinal cord damage resulting in paralysis from the chest down. He spent approximately 5 1/2 months in hospitals, 2 months at Craig Hospital. Craig Hospital was by far and away his best experience as far as medical care and rehabilatation are concerned. Because of that, we decided to create a team ("Team Shawn") and join in the effort to raise money for Craig Hospital with the idea of giving back in a small way some of that which was given to Shawn. Because of all Shawn learned from the good people at Craig, he is now back to work full time, married the love of his life Lauren, traveling and camping. Getting back to his Colorado mountains is a dream come true for Shawn, as that has always been his favorite place to be. An update on Shawn and Lauren, his beautiful wife; they are pregnant! Expecting a baby boy on September, 25, 2020. They have to be quarantined for 3 weeks prior to delivery, so Shawn will not be riding his fairly new E-bike. We are disappointed that he can't ride, but overly excited for the arrival of a grandson.
So, due to Covid-19 the Pedal for Possible Ride will be a virtual event this year. That means the participants will be able to ride any route they choose in order to raise money for the Craig Foundation. I will be riding the normal Metric Century route which covers approximately 62 miles in Boulder County. I would love to share this ride with anyone who cares to join me.
Please come and join us for this great cause by clicking on the link to the right. We would love to have anyone represent Team Shawn in anyway you can, ride, donate, or just cheer us on.. If you can't ride, please donate what you can. They did so much for Shawn, this is the least we can do for Craig Hospital and other patients who find themselves there. Thank you.
