Releasing the Power of One FAQ

What is the Power of One?

Christians have an inner resource to access God's power to change them and the communities in which they live. Apply that power — which the apostle Paul describes as dunamis (Ephesians 3:20) — to technology available today and you have the potential of explosive creativity visible to a vast audience.

Technology's always been here. What's different about now?

The culture has been changed by social media. We've had the 'one to many' model in the past — large media entities where you had to "pay to play." Now we have 'many to many' — tools that once were expensive and inaccessible are now in the hands of many. The opportunity to "renew communities together" has never been greater.

Who benefits from this webinar?

Virtually anyone in church leadership, on any level. Support staff can also gain a practical perspective. There is also a strategic component — how can we drive traffic through web-based venues?

Why is this so important now?

Because it's a bridge to generations who did not grow up the way Baby Boomers did. We're dealing with a 'generation gap' driven by technology now that has to be addressed. Generations X, Y, and Z can receive faith-based messages but we have to put them into their cultural context — short form instead of long form, with interactivity built in.

What?s the takeaway?

This is the beginning of a journey of change — my hope is that we can all walk this road together patiently, learning from one another. The background God has given me in marketing, production, advertising and sales — along with communications leadership in some of the region's largest churches — has put me in the position of seeing two worlds that can benefit from shared knowledge. Right now, churches are "beautifully prepared for a world that no longer exists." It is my desire for God to prepare us for a world that does.
