Welcome to My Personal Page

Thanks for visiting my Ultimate Hike page!
For those of you who don't know me, My name is Katye Herring. I am initially from Mississppi where I did medical school and pediatric residency. I moved to UVA in 2019 to do Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship. In this role, I care for children with cancer, and their families. It's a true honor to provide care to my patients and their families. This year as I complete fellowship, I wanted to put my action behind what I do and some friends invited me to sign up for the "ultimate" hike!! It's a 21 mile hike on May 14th in Shenandoah Valley to raise funds for childhood cancer.
I am humbly asking that you would make a donation and a difference in the lives of the 17,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year. For those of you reading this who have looked at a COG protocol (perhaps I've treated your child or another Pediatric Oncologist has), you've likely noticed the CureSearch logo. THATS where this money goes - to fund clinical research protocols.
The money I raise will support CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support targeted and innovative childhood cancer research, with measurable results. In addition, they are the authoritative source for information resources about pediatric cancer for families and their support systems.
One in ten children diagnosed with cancer do not survive and those who do, often suffer from lifelong side effects as a result of toxic treatments. Please support me as I help change the odds for the kids who are counting on us.
Thank you for helping me work towards telling children's cancer to take a hike!
Sincerely,
Katye
