Hanna's CureSearch Fundraising Page
I have had the honor of caring for children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders for over ten years. These kiddos have changed my life but I wish there was no need for all the surgeries, long hospital stays, round after round of chemotherapy, radiation, painful procedures, complicated medication regimens at home, clinic visits, social isolation and the immeasurable ripple effects across their siblings, parents and communities. Treatment follows them throughout their lives with long term effects like organ damage, hearing loss, loss of mobility, intellectual delays, secondary or relapsed cancers and medical trauma. Not to mention the devastation of the children who die during their cancer journeys. I hope some day there is no such thing as childhood cancer, but in the meantime we must support research into improving treatment protocols. Truly the children being treated for cancer today are standing on the shoulders of kids who have been treated before them. We must get more money in research to improve treatment outcomes, reduce its devastating effects, and give our children a better chance at life.
