Team Warrior for Rosemary and Research
Team Rosemary is created in memory of Rosemary Smith, who was a loving mother, wife, friend and teacher who battled Glioblastoma brain cancer for nineteen months before her death in August, 2016.
Rosemary’s most important role was as a mother of two beautiful daughters, Molly (24) and Abby (22). She was their biggest supporter, role model, confidant, and friend. She saw them grow into beautiful young ladies with bright futures. Molly graduated with a degree in Marketing from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in May 2017. She now lives in Oakland,CA pursuing her dreams of making it into the wine industry. Abby is completing her Senior year at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in Nursing school. She loves to hike, snow and water ski, and rock climb. She plans to pursue a job in pediatrics preferably in Colorado or California.
Rosemary was married to the love of her life, Chad, for 24 years. He loved Rosemary with his entire being, and cared for her unselfishly throughout her illness and death. He is committed to ensuring that her legacy of hope continues through his life and the lives of their daughters and is a devoted dad to his girls. He has dedicated his life and career to supporting cancer patients and their medical providers.
Rosemary loved her friends and family and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Kingsport, where she shared her musical gifts through singing with the praise band and many solo performances. In addition to her musical talents, Rosemary blessed audiences with her acting gifts through numerous plays and community performances. She was a beloved teacher in Kingsport for 27 years, first at Rock Springs Elementary School, then at John Sevier Middle School.
Team Rosemary is striving to provide hope, compassion, and much needed financial support for the continued research of brain cancers. Please join us with your donation and/or participation in the Angels Among Us 5K Race, as we honor both Rosemary’s memory and the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, which provided Rosemary and many others with excellent treatment and world-class research.
