Ron's GBM Smashers
Ron was diagnosed with Stage 4 glioblastoma (GBM) in December 2016. Shortly after the diagnosis, an operation followed, successfully removing most of the tumor. Reluctant to immediately move into chemo and radiation therapies, our family conducted a lot of research and looked for alternative methods of treatment.
In conjunction with the alternative methods, Ron started standard methods of treatment. He completed radiation therapy in April 2017 and will be completing one year of chemotherapy in March 2018. The last several MRI scans have yielded great results, showing the tumor and swelling is shrinking.
Ron has celebrated many successes along this journey: getting back onto the tennis courts, captaining a team, welcoming his first grandchild, going back to work regularly, and (most importantly!) passing the Brain Tumor Clinic's driving evaluation and getting back behind the wheel.
We are very thankful to all of the members of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. And for all of the help, support, and prayers that our family and friends have provided our family through this journey. We hope that you can join our family at the Family Fun Walk this year as we walk to celebrate Ron’s health and our family’s journey.
