Jack's It's Mobley
On January 7, 2008, our beloved Jack Richard Mobley, Jr., lost his 15-month battle with brain cancer. After his October 2006 diagnosis - an inoperable stage IV gliobastoma multiforme - Jack, with the love and support of his many friends and family, fought hard for more time with all of us. We cherished the additional months that his treatment at Duke University Hospital gave us.
Jack was a kind, dedicated, light-hearted husband, father, brother, son and friend. He is the grandfather of Charlotte, Jordan and Jack Richard III (children of Jack's son, Jasan, and his wife, Ceri). He is also the grandfather of Abbott Warring (son of Jack's daughter, Ashley). Unfortunately, he never got the chance to meet his grandchildren, but he looks down on them from heaven, and we all know he is beyond proud.
Jack is missed every single day, not just by his children, grandchildren and widow, Susan, but also by his siblings, Lynn Mobley, Ann Hanus, and Jeff Mobley - as well as the rest of his extended family. He is missed by so many, including his good friends and colleagues.
Like many families affected by cancer, ours faced challenges beyond the already painful experience of seeing a loved one suffer. In memory of Jack, the Mobley family is proud to lend EXTRA support to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke that helps provide cancer patients and their families through the Jack R. Mobley, Jr., Family Brain Tumor Fund. This foundation provides financial assistance in the areas that health insurance does not cover, such as in-home medical equipment, caregivers and prescriptions for experimental medication.
Each year, we raise funds for Jack's foundation through these channels:
- The Galloway Foundation (benefactor)
- The Angels Among Us 5K and 3K Family Walk.
Please join our team - Jack's "It's Mobley" - for our ANNUAL CELEBRATION of Jack's life at the Duke University Angels Among Us 5K RUN and 3K Family Walk through the beautiful Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
Thank you for your continued participation in or support of this event or support of Jack's foundation through any of the above channels. Our family values any and all support of this cause through this event, the golf tournament, or The Galloway Foundation. The Mobley Family is and always will be eternally grateful for the generosity and loving support each one of you have shown us since the day he was diagnosed.
