Pets at Duke 2018
On April 7th Spring for Support 5K and Family Fun Day will once again return to Duke University's East Campus. This is an annual event that raises funding to provide support services for Duke cancer patients and their families.
There is a timed and untimed 5K, but this year we will be adding family fun crafts and games throughout the day including a special performance from the Bouncing Bulldogs. We will have face painters, balloon sculptors and even some Marvel Comic superheroes. The tradition of the Foolishly Family Fun Obstacle Course will also continue and it will be complete with prizes for participation.
For event details, visit SpringforSupport5K.org. There are also options to both register and sign-up to volunteer on this site in the case that is of interest.
What does my donation support?
100% of your donation will go directly to the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program. This program believes that in order to treat cancer, you must treat the whole person! Services are provided to patients and their families at no cost. Services include, but are not limited to Medical Family Therapy, Child-Life, Recreation Therapy, Patient Navigators, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists. Additionally the program offers support groups, pet therapy, financial assistance programs, self-image services, smoking cessation, exercise consultations, and sexual health counseling. For full listing of Duke Cancer Patient Support Program services offered at no cost, visit dukehealth.org/cancersupport.
Pets at Duke, a pet therapy program, serves over 10,000 patients and family members annually. Programming is provided in ten locations and we can only hope to expand that next year. Please help this wish to come true and make a difference and donate today!
Thanks for your consideration.
