Dear Friends and Family,
I have played on a team with the same core members over the past 4 years, and will play again with these great ladies! We all have different reasons for playing; we all have those that we honor and remember while we play. Our team will again be named "For the Cure" as we hope to contribute to this cause.
My Dad lost one of his best friends to cancer, my daughter lost one of her beloved gymnastics coaches. I've lost friends that are my age. Several of my family members, including my Mom, have battled this disease in some way or another. It is prevalent, it is nasty, and strides are being made in order to improve treatment. Small scale studies such as those performed at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, are important in that they test ideas that lead to the larger studies that drive treatment protocols. Funds from events such as these support this type of research. The implications aren't just local, but extend worldwide.
Would you consider supporting my efforts in this year's Team Tennis to SMASH Cancer? Your consideration is much appreciated! I've learned to love the game of tennis and I'm happy to be able to use this sport in such a positive way! Also, here's my shameless plug: this year's event happens to fall on the exact day of my 50th birthday.... I would love for you all to help me celebrate by making a donation to this important cause! Thanks so much!
