The Ribbon Ride, formerly known as the Green Mountain Motorcycle Ride, began in 2003 after two brothers, John and Matt Brasseur, found out that their aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout their lives, the brothers had loved to ride motorcycles (although truth be known their aunt was not very supportive of their passion in this area). Their aunt worried that motorcycles would take the boys away from her, and now it was the boys' turn to worry that she might be taken from them - by cancer. Shortly after her diagnosis, the brothers concluded that they could channel their passion for riding into raising money for a cure for cancer. Thus, the Green Mountain Motorcycle Ride was born. Since then, the event has raised over $320,000 for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
