Welcome to the my personal page
February 10, 2019
Dear Friends and Family,
Cancer touches so many of those in our network – family, friends, colleagues and more. This July, I am again participating in the ‘Century Ride’, a one-day 100 mile bicycle ride called The Prouty – the biggest charity challenge north ofBoston.
On July 13th, 2019, I will ride in The Prouty to raise money for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Fighting cancer is really important to me and I want to help further the world class research and patient supportive services that this cancer center provides toNew Hampshire,Vermont andMaine.
Please take a moment to visit the Prouty website fundraising page and make a donation in my name, ELIZABETH JESUP under the name of my team Dartmouth without Borders. You can click the link at the bottom of this e-mail to make an online donation – it’s fast, easy and safe. Plus, you'll be making a big difference in an important cause. These donations stay local and fund both research and training opportunities and necessary patient service.
This team is co-captained by my brother and his wife, Dr. Mary Chamberlin, who is an oncologist atNorrisCottonCancerCenter. In addition to raising money forNorrisCottonCancerCenterfor cancer care here at home, Mary is also a part of a global health initiative atDartmouththat is working on cancer education and training in low resource countries. Mary hopes to use this new team to raise awareness about the rising global burden of cancer in order to expand existing global health programs inRwanda,Honduras,Kosovo,Tanzania, andPeruto include more oncology specific training and education collaborations.
In addition to all of the usual benefits for participating in The Prouty, here are some other perks for participating this year:
- A local upper valley foundation will be matching money team participants raise to the NorrisCottonCancerCenter(up to $500 each) once The Prouty individual participant minimum has been met.
- This foundation will also make a matching gift (again, up to $500 each) to the global health initiative, once The Prouty minimum has been met.
While the above perks are available only to Dartmouth Without Borders team members, it's also critical to note that the Byrne Foundation is offering an incredible 3:1 match to all registered The Prouty participants on ALL money raised in excess of The Prouty minimum or, in the case of The Prouty Ultimate, money raised in excess of $500. This 3:1 match is good through February 14th. They will also be offering a 2:1 match from 2/15 - 3/17 and a 1:1 match from 3/18 - 4/15.
Some of these amazing matches from the Byrne Foundation are only offered for the next few days! I do apologize for this late notice, but I only found about this today!
I have already started training in earnest for this event; please join me in this team's inaugural year and feel free to contact me with any questions,
Thank you for your generous support!
