Welcome to the my personal page
This will be our 15th year riding in the 38th annual PROUTY to raise money for cancer research and patient care at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. We ride our bikes in memory of Ariel's grandparents, Sylvia Springhorn and Harold & Lois Silver, a close family friend, Lee Schiffer, and many other friends and family members (We miss you Donnie!), all of whom we have lost to cancer. We also ride to honor our many friends and family members who have conquered this disease.
On Saturday, July 13th this year, health and weather permitting, we hope once again to ride the 50-mile route as part of our team: Friends of Lebanon Crew. Deb, Ariel, and Steve had a great ride last year, successfully completing the 50-mile route. The three of us raised over $6,000!
Regardless of weather conditions and how many miles we ride, The Prouty is ALWAYS an incredible fundraising event. More than 6,000 bikers, walkers, rowers, golfers, and volunteers will be involved on July 12 & 13. The goal this year is to raise $3 million!
Through the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center and The Prouty, you support Cancer Center researchers and clinicians who are working on innovative ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and hopefully, one day, cure cancer. You also support important patient services that would otherwise not be funded. Research conducted here informs patient treatment around the world. The Norris Cotton Cancer Center is one of only 47 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute for excellence in cancer research, care and community outreach.
Donating is easy. The Prouty website is secure for on line contributions, or you can write a check. To make a secure donation on line, go to The Prouty 2019 (www.theprouty.org). Click on "Donate," and then “Sponsor Participant” and enter Steve Silver, Deborah Springhorn, or Ariel Silver which will take you to our individual Springhorn-Silver family pages where you can make your secure donation. If you prefer, checks should be made out to “Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center,” and mailed to our home address of 153 North Main Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
Our incredible local Byrne Foundation has already most generously triple-matched donations that came in earlier in January! Steve could not get on that incredible benefit quickly enough, unfortunately. However, until Friday, March 1st of this year, the Byrne Foundation will continue to match dollar for dollar for all contributions, but ONLY UNTIL MARCH 1ST. This is the fourth year that Steve is providing an incentive for anyone donating $100.00 or more through Friday, March 1st 5:00 pm (I repeat, only until 5:00 pm Friday, March 1st!). And after Friday, March 1st, Steve will continue his pottery bowl incentive to anyone who contributes $200.00 or more by July 1st of this year. Once again, he is excited to make pottery bowls perfect for chili, ice cream, fruit or salad for these donors. Last year Steve shipped his bowls everywhere from New York to Vancouver.
Also this year, as in previous years, Steve will provide his traditional thank you gift - a specially made piece of his pottery will be raffled after the Prouty has concluded. For every $50.00 contributed, your name will be put in a drawing for a large hand-thrown bowl. A donation of less than $50.00 gets your name in a raffle for a mug made by Steve.
Please help us fight cancer with a donation to this most important cause. Every donation helps; it all adds up!
you so much for your support!
Steve, Deb, & Ariel
