This year I will be participating in the 40th Annual Prouty by organizing a 13.5-mile paddling event down the Connecticut River from Westmoreland, NH to Brattleboro, VT on June 26th. As a breast cancer survivor, participating in The Prouty to help raise awareness and much needed funds for cancer research and patient care is particularly important to me. 

Last summer, I kayaked the Connecticut River for the first time and was instantly smitten with its beauty, peacefulness, and power and my time on the river became an important part of my healing process. Whether you, a family member, or a close friend have ever been diagnosed with cancer, you know it's a journey. A challenging journey for all those touched by the diagnosis. For me, this adventure down the Connecticut River symbolizes all of our collective journeys to fight, survive, and find a cure for this horrible disease. My goal for June 26th is to have 50 paddlers make this 13.5 mile journey together and I hope my local friends will consider joining me.

Funds raised help fuel life-saving cancer research and meaningful patient and family support services at Dartmouth and Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 51 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. 

Your support of The Prouty will help fund researchers and clinicians who are working on innovative ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and hopefully, one day, cure cancer. You will also help provide important patient and family supportive services that would otherwise not be funded such as support groups, massage, writing, and arts therapy programs.
