Thousands of families are broken apart when one of their loved ones is detained or deported. In fact, we recently learned that nearly 205,000 parents of American citizens were deported in the last two years.
In recent years, private prison companies have earned $5 billion in

President Obama- we say stop this madness!
Join us in asking the President to keep families
together and communities healthier in 2013.
Keep Families Together
Dear [Decision Maker],
Please use your leadership to keep families together in 2013. There are thousands of immigrant families ripped apart by detention every year. While private prison companies racked up $5 billion in profits last year by profiting off the pain caused to immigrant families, our communities continue to be stripped of resources-- schools are closed and benefits for elderly are cut while funding for locking up immigrants has grown. You cannot wait any longer to stop this madness. We call on you to:- Direct ICE to prioritize keeping immigrant families together - End mandatory detention, and require ICE to implement and consistently apply a validated risk assessment tool to determine the need for detention- Freeze federal funding for immigrant detention beds
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
