A new coalition of 175 artists, actors, athletes, elected officials and advocates, including Russell Simmons, Harry Belafonte, Julian Bond, just emerged to call on President Obama to end the failed War on Drugs and transform our criminal justice system.
The U.S. locks up 1 in 4 of the world's prisoners and spends more than $60 billion per year to do so -- money that should be used to educate and provide opportunities to our young people. And most of the people who get locked up are Black or Latino, so kids of color get hit hardest as they lose their parents while their schools lose funding.
Take a stand with Ella Baker Center and this new coalition to tell President Obama to end the failed War on Drugs and end mass incarceration.
Read the open letter the new coalition sent to President Obama at Global Grind.
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.
Dear President Obama,
I stand with a coalition including Russell Simmons, Harry Belafonte and 175 other artists, actors, athletes, elected officials and advocates to say NOW IS THE TIME to end the failed Drug War.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
